What can I expect during an oral examination and teeth cleaning?

Your dentist may begin your treatment by taking x-rays to get a comprehensive view of your teeth and jaw. Once a visual inspection of your teeth has been completed, your dentist will complete a scale and polish to remove plaque and tartar build-up from your teeth.

We then use an electric polisher to polish and smooth the enamel surface of your teeth. Your teeth will be smoother and shinier, less likely to stain and easier to keep clean at home afterwards. You will finish with a fluoride treatment to reduce teeth sensitivity and strengthen and remineralise teeth.

If you require further treatment, we will provide you with a comprehensive treatment plan, including preventive measures. Recommended treatments will be explained in detail, with cost estimates provided.

Do I need to see my dentist every six months?

Regular visits to the dentist will ensure that you keep your oral health in check. Visiting the dentist twice a year can help you avoid unexpected dental issues that could be costly and painful down the track. A routine dental check-up has many benefits, including preventing tooth decay, cavities and gum issues.
